An incredibly fast breeding springtail which thrives in most terrestrial environments and will roam onto dry land. In the wild they are often associated with ants.

Originally collected from a compost pile in Bylas, Arizona. Ecosystem preference: soil, often associated with ants. Range/distribution Nearctic through Mexico and the Caribbean and into northern South America.

Adult size: ~3mm

Identification: confirmed via microscopy; species has no eyes, unguiculus has distinctly large outer tooth, setae in labial triangle smooth, thoracic segment 2 marginally wider than Th 3, setae of Th 2 “collar” are long.
