Product Details

A beautiful arid springtail species. You will find them to be quite reclusive until the population grows. This species prefers very dry and well ventilated conditions with only a small area in the enclosure that is permanently moist.

-

Seira purpurea are a stunning addition to dry or low humidity enclosures but are not an effective standalone cleanup crew because of their low reproduction speed and reclusive behavior. They will still require access to a small area of permanent moisture such as sphagnum moss under a water dish. See the Cleanup Crew Guides for more information: www.springtails.us/cleanup-crew-guides

-

Culture Seira purpurea on soil with a moisture gradient and high ventilation only. Feed yeast, or Springtails US springtail food mixes. See the Care Guides for more information: www.springtails.us/care-guides

-

Current restock schedule: Weekly (usually Saturday nights)

-

Ships on damp paper towel. See the "Springtail Shipping Methods" section on the FAQ page to learn why I use paper towel and how to transfer them to a culture.

-

Originally collected from dry gravel in Oklahoma by hobbyist Ben Gruver. Range/distribution: North America/Europe.

-

Adult size: 2mm

I would definitely recommend to others with an arid bioactive terrarium like with a Bearded Dragon! I bought 3 species, I don’t know if it was just one species or all three that multiplied and flourished at a very high rate!!

These are really interesting looking species. I can't wait to have a huge colony.
